Anthony Santiso Obituary

Anthony P. “Toke” Santiso, Sr., age 94, formerly of 613 North Broad St., Ridgway, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.  He was born September 16, 1927, in Johnsonburg, PA, son of the late Anthony and Mary Santiso.  He married Dora M. Sette on November 13, 1948, she preceded him in death on July 17, 2018.

 

He resided in Ridgway most of his life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and the Rolfe Beagle Club.  He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and sitting on the front porch.  He attended Holy Rosary School in Johnsonburg.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II.  He had been employed by the B & O and CSX Railroads for over 50 years.  

 

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He is survived by the following children:  Francis A. (Cathy) Santiso of Ridgway, Mary Lou (Allen) Cartwright of Ridgway, Anthony P. Santiso, Jr. of Ridgway, Joan M. Santiso (Larry Huber) of Ridgway, and Joseph J. (Lori) Santiso of Fredericksburg, VA; 6 grandchildren:  Anthony B. (Kris), Frankie (Jess), Angela, Donnie (Carly), Nick (Hannah), Maria (Justin); 7 great-grandchildren:  Kaleb, Hunter, Anthony, Mason, Jace, Colton, Kole and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 grandson Matthew Cartwright, and 2 sisters Frances Elam and Rose Bevacqua.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony P. Santiso, Sr. will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.  Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery.  Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.  Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Ridgway Rifle Club or to the donor’s choice.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.  Share your online condolences at thompsonfuneralhomepa.com
