Edward E. Hepler, Sr., age 91, of 100 Fairview Hill Rd., Ridgway, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born November 9, 1930, in Vandergrift, PA, son of the late Donald and Iva (Learn) Hepler. He married Barbara J. Krajefska on April 29, 2017 she survives. He resided in Powell, TN for many years before relocating to Ridgway. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the DAV, and the DVA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching westerns on TV, and spending time with his family. He was a graduate of Vandergrift High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a POW for 1 year. He retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years having worked in communications.
He is survived by his wife Barbara J. Hepler of Ridgway, and the following children: Sonja L. (Robert) Martin of Cache, OK, Cyndi J. Ryker of West Columbia, SC, Patricia A. Nunley (Ken Johnson) of Ridgway, Edward E. (Lisa) Hepler, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Janet C. (Larry) Good of Olathe, KS, Jeff A. Hepler of Knoxville, TN, Jenny F. (John) Carr of Sevierville, TN, Scott Carino of St. Petersburg, FL, Becky J. (Sherman) Branum of Karns, TN; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother John (Helen) Hepler of Ridgway; 1 sister Nancy Johnston of Delaware, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 wives, and 2 sons Michael and Ronny D. Hepler.
A Memorial Service for Edward E. Hepler, Sr. will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Officiating will be Ronald L. Burkett, Pastor of the Hallton Church. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
